Full Bio:

Ryan has over 16 years of experience of webcast and media production. From time-to-time, you’ll even find him running events.  Prior to starting Propulsion, he served as the Senior Operations Manager for Microsoft's largest webcasting team: Infopedia Media. Here he managed the overall delivery of over 2,000+ webcasts per year, drove innovative changes with new product offerings and reduced operational costs per event.

Ryan also served as the Director of Online Event Services for Worktank Enterprises, LLC and managed a team of 28 Event Producers delivering over 15,000 live and on-demand webcasts for Microsoft.  Ryan’s webcasting career began at Oracle, where he and his team built the foundation for online events, enterprise-wide, via 13 global delivery studios.

He earned both BA and MA degrees in Radio & Television from San Francisco State University as part of the Broadcast and Electronic Creative Arts department (BECA).  While working his way through college, he served on the production and on-air teams for KYLD (Wild 94.9 FM), KFRC (Oldies 99.7 FM) and KYCY (Young Country 93.3 FM).  This experience was not only fun, but also very educational for delivering Live events.

Ryan is married with two wonderful kids, and resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest – Washington State.  In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family, camping, boating and working on older cars.

get to know me:

Q: What is one of your favorite quotes?

A: “The older I get, the smarter my father seems to get.” – Tim Russert (Big Russ and Me).

Q: If you could have any super power what would it be and why?

A: Time travel. How cool would it be to travel back in time to relive your fondest memories? Or perhaps visit the future to see all the cool stuff ahead of us. Delorean optional.

Q: What movie or novel character do you most identify with?

A: Clark Griswold. He’s a hard working family man, who always tries his best, but always seems to fumble at family functions. He also likes station wagons, long road trips, and has a crazy cousin. All very similar to my own life.

Q: What new technology will transform the future?

A: 5-10 years back, I would have said the smart phone, which has really revolutionized how we live today. However, with all that connectivity, we have lost context on what it all means. I think Big Data/BI is going to help us string things together to make sense of the world we live in – and – bring greater meaning to our interactions.

Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

A: Home. I love being at home with my family and friends. I know that sounds boring, but it’s true. I’ve traveled a bit, and while it’s fun, I long for being with the people I love, the routines we have, and the memories we share. However, if it were for travel, to a new place I have not been, I suppose I would pick Tahiti (French Polynesia) or Fiji. It just looks so awesome there – and – relaxing. That and my wife says we have to go there at some point. Who am I to argue?
